I’ve known this day was coming for quite sometime and yet it’s still difficult to put into words what it means to me. 20 Years ago today I hung out my shingle on this amazing downtown space. I had no idea if I could do it and Lord knows I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way. But I’m still here doing exactly what I believe God put me on this earth to do. I am beyond grateful for the family, friends and clients that have supported this big dream for so many years. I must admit, I’m pretty emotional today. So if you see me lookin’ like a red eyed puffy mess it’s because I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you all for taking a chance on me and for continuing to support my business. But most of all I need to thank Doug, Paige for all the help and support. They have schlepped equipment, worked late, built props, been test models and put in a serious amount of blood sweat and tears right along with me and I could not have done this without them. I would also be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to Lynn smith. He is hands down the best landlord and kindest human being I’ve even known. 20 years ago I walked into his photography studio on the corner of Main and Independence, what is now Enid Brewing Company, and asked him if it would be weird to rent to another photographer. He said, “Not any more weird than renting from one.“ Since that day he has been invaluable to me as a mentor and a friend and he has become as important to me as my family. I’d love to list every person that has made an impact but I know I would miss some and this is plenty long already. I do plan to have a lovely 20 year open house celebration on December 8th so consider yourselves invited! There will be a ribbon cutting at 2, a charcuterie board by Nicole Winfield of Happy Hour Marketing, drinks, prizes and a lot of hugs. I do hope you will stop by and celebrate this milestone with me. One final shout out to Beverly and Curt Ediger for this bottle of Champagne we enjoyed 20 years ago today. I’ve kept it all this time as a reminder of how amazing this journey has been and will continue to be. Much love!
~Dawn
