Angela and I had spoken several times about doing a Gatsby themed photoshoot together. After attending the artist workshop in September she was one of the first phone calls I made. We talked about clothing, hair styling, makeup and just the general feel of the portraits. As an added bonus Angela is a stylist at Twisted Scissors so her hair and makeup look amazing! She brought the dress, shrug and most of the jewelry with her and we added a few things I have here at the studio. The bracelet she is wearing in the beige tone image belonged to Doug’s grandmother, I love that there is a touch of family heritage in my final art piece. When we finished with the Gatsby look I asked Angela to change into a black, backless leotard. Angela is also a dance instructor at Hype Dance Productions and she definitely has the legs to show for it! The skirt she is wearing is one that I made from a full bolt of tulle. I love the way it flows around her and puddles in the bottom if the frame. Angela is so naturally beautiful and elegant. She is always genuinely one of the nicest people on the planet. It as such a joy to work with her and her positive energy. I recently dropped off a marketing piece with her image in it and here’s what she had to say.
“Walked into work this morning to find a brochure on my station containing this photograph. I am in shock. I’m in a little bit of denial that it’s me. @dawnmmuncy you are absolutely INCREDIBLE at what you do. Thank you for making me feel beautiful at a time in my life when I’m really struggling with my confidence and self-esteem. Happy tears!“
I can’t think of a greater compliment than to be able to build confidence and self esteem. It’s definitely you Angela, Every beautiful brush stroke! Thank you for a very special memory!
